Group of academics, political activists, human rights defenders and experts from across the globe, have signed a joint statement addressing UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon and US President Barack Obama, on the occasion of Egypt President visit to New York to attend high level meetings at the United Nations.
Signatories expressed great concern regrading continued grave human rights violations occurring in Egypt and specifically the case of
Ahmed Maher, Founder of April 6 Movement. The letter asked both leaders to raise his case, and other comparable cases, with President el-Sisi when they meet him at the United Nations.
